The content rating system
The Content Rating system is used to determine the suitability of content in videos for viewers of different ages, and to inform viewers and parents of the content. It is further used for content rating filters that may be employed by any viewer.
Creators are asked to indicate the contents of their videos using a criteria check-list. This information is then used to generate a recommended age and content descriptors for the video. The content descriptors fall into four broad categories. The following table explains these categories:
||Used to indicate foul language and/or content that might be offensive|
|Fear, Injury and Danger
||Used to indicate the type and severity of violence featured in your video|
|Sensitive Topics, Substances, Weapons
Used to indicate
|Adult||Used to indicate the presence of nudity and/or sexual acts|
How to indicate your content
When you upload a video, you must indicate whether it contains mature content. The rating system applies to all aspects of a video, including the cover, title, and description.
Our rating system is very detailed, and is used to inform both viewers and advertisers. This level of nuance facilitates ad targeting and monetization - in contrast to the demonetization practices of some other platforms.
The screenshots below demonstrates how this system works.
Our platform has rules, and certain types of videos are simply not allowed on our platform. The rating system will typically advise you when this is the case. If you are unsure whether your video is permitted or not, please refer to our rules.
